Reference section

Reference service is evergreen service of the library. Other services will change but reference service will remain same. Reference Services assists students, faculty, staff, and the community in identifying, locating, and retrieving information in a variety of formats. Regardless of how specific or general the nature of your research project, reference librarians are available to provide guidance in every aspect of the research process. In VSL queries are send through email, live chat, and also users are visiting Library personally to get their desired data or information. Reference library check and solve the queries and send the information to that user as soon as possible. If librarian have no information regarding user’s queries than it is acquired from the networked libraries. Reference section also maintain Inter Library Loan (ILL) part in this if any user wants any book or other source, and if is not available in library then book is borrowed from other institute library on ILL. This Reference Section maintain daily ILL, Check-Out, Check- In, etc. record.

Reservation Policy

The faculty/Students/Staff can reserve the item/s which are issued to others. Whenever the item/s is/are returned, the user will get an auto email.

They can also reserve the book/s which are available in the library. In such cases, the staff will collect the book/s from the stack area and keep it at the circulation counter. The same will be conveyed to the faculty/Student/Staff by email.

In both the cases, the reserved items should be collected within 2 days, else the reservation will stand cancelled and the item will be issued to other immediate member. For faculties library will wait for 1-2 days more.

Reserve/Hold the book/s through the online catalogue, using “Place hold” option.
